Highlights
Still life, in the path of art history, has always been a recurrent theme in the canvasses of even the most dissimilar creators. Raimundo López is one of those Cuban artists inspired by this theme, which although of yesteryear has not lost its validity. He sets a new context, giving it “life,” sensuality, and glamour. His scenes of nature become a direct stimulant for the spectator who ecstatically contemplates the exuberance of the shapes, the subtlety of colour, and the intangible presences of a grand and nearby past. Tropical fruit, Greek-style sculptures, and nude women are recurring icons in his work inviting us to a feast.
Details of hyper realistic shapes possess the canvas giving us the keys to discern the talent and originality of their author.
