Highlights
Ulises Bretaña (Pinar Del Rio, Cuba 1957) comes from the City of Pinar Del Rio with a unique and interesting proposal for us. His particularly enchanting works come together in a surrealistic Cuban-style configuration. Through sustained praxis, he’s become a master of form and colour, and is one of the most popular Cuban artists. Committed to his reality,Ulises Bretaña assumes surrealistic style to question and discuss Cuban identity. Tropical fruit, ships, shapeless figures, lights, and parasols invite the viewer on an aphrodisiac trip of the Caribbean where the magical realism of every day plays the principle and omnipresent role in his artistic discourse. Fantastic, playful and shining beings come out of his canvases and take on life.
Ulises Bretaña is a contemporary artist whose palette of sparkling colors sets him apart.
